Details

  • Thanks to its integrated glass fabric, 3M™ 5451 offers high resistance to thermal and mechanical stresses
  • Performs where other adhesive tapes fail
  • Short-term temperature resistance up to +260 °C
  • Provides a non-stick, low-friction surface on heat-sealing and packaging equipment.

Adhesive tape for coating plastic film welding equipment and as a sliding surface with high mechanical strength and a non-stick surface.

For demanding applications requiring increased durability, the 3M™ PTFE Glass Fabric Adhesive Tape 5451 is just the thing. 5451 is resistant to most chemicals and offers a quick and permanent solution to reduce build-up on packaging and heat-sealing machines. It serves as a long-lasting, non-stick or easily removable medium between surfaces where pressure, temperature fluctuations and other factors can cause adhesion. PTFE is chemical-resistant and can be used as a temporary chemical barrier. The tape has a wide operating temperature range of 73°C to 260°C, making it suitable for a variety of high-temperature applications. Recommended applications: heat sealing machines, ironing and pressing equipment, high-temperature bundling, mould release in composite materials. Provides a good barrier for separating dissimilar parts.

What is PTFE? Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic material used in a wide range of industries and applications to reduce the coefficient of friction. Due to its non-stick properties and high heat resistance, PTFE is used as a non-stick coating for frying pans and other cookware. Due to its non-conductivity, it is an excellent insulating material for electrical applications. PTFE is non-reactive due to the chemical resistance of fluoropolymer compounds to numerous chemicals and is therefore effective in containers and piping for reactive and corrosive substances. PTFE reduces friction, wear and improves the energy efficiency of machinery. Due to its low friction, PTFE is used in industrial applications where parts need to slide smoothly, such as in bearings, gearboxes, sliding plates, etc. In these applications, it offers significantly better performance than nylon or acetal.
