Beschreibung
3M™ PTFE Tape 5481 quickly and easily creates a sliding coating on a variety of surfaces. Unlike the extruded product, the peeled version with the PTFE backing is easier to shape. This tape provides a quick and easy-to-use solution for reducing friction between moving surfaces. The lubricating and non-stick properties ensure that surfaces exposed to pressure, temperature changes and other physical factors separate easily.
Using the tape can improve surface mobility, eliminate squeaking and rattling noises, and reduce machine noise. PTFE is chemical-resistant and can be used as a temporary chemical barrier. It can be used in a wide temperature range from 54 °C to 260 °C, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications.
Recommended applications:
- Wrapping rollers during the processing of roll goods, wrapping belts and plates on which sticky materials and paints may accumulate
- Bundling and wrapping of brackets and cable harnesses exposed to high temperatures
- Reduction of squeaking noises and noise reduction
- Shielding and protection against chemicals
- Release agent when bonding composite materials
What is PTFE?
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a synthetic material used in various industries and applications to reduce the coefficient of friction. Due to its non-stick properties and high heat resistance, PTFE is used, amongst other things, as a non-stick coating in frying pans and saucepans. Thanks to its non-conductivity, it is ideal as an insulating material for electrical applications. Due to the chemical resistance of fluoropolymer compounds, PTFE is inert to many chemicals, making it well-suited for use in containers and pipes for reactive and corrosive substances.
PTFE reduces friction, wear and tear, and the energy requirements of machinery. Due to its low friction, PTFE is used in industrial applications that require a low coefficient of friction, such as plain bearings, gearboxes, sliding plates, etc. Here, it demonstrates significantly better performance than nylon or acetal. This versatile product is available here in an extruded form.
